Buyer's guide

How a palletizer machine works

A palletiser takes cartons, bags or packs from the end of a production line and stacks them onto a pallet in a set pattern, layer by layer. Building the pallet the same way every time gives stable loads that stack and ship well.

Palletising is often paired with stretch wrapping: the palletiser builds the load and a stretch wrapper secures it, so the whole end of the line runs without manual lifting.

Types of palletizer machines

Layer palletisers

Form a full layer of products and place it on the pallet in one move, for high, steady volumes.

Robotic palletisers

A robot arm picks and places products, which makes it easy to change patterns and handle several lines.

Combined palletise-and-wrap systems

Palletising and stretch wrapping in a single automated cell.

How to choose a palletizer machine

  • Products per minute. Sets the type of palletiser and the number of lines it can serve.
  • Product type. Cartons, sacks, trays and shrink packs each need suitable grippers and handling.
  • Pallet patterns. The number of patterns and pallet sizes you use affects the control system.
  • Floor space. Robotic cells are often more compact than conventional layer palletisers.

FAQ

Palwrap questions.

What does a palletizer machine do?

It stacks cartons, bags or packs onto a pallet automatically in a set pattern, replacing manual stacking at the end of the production line.

Can a palletiser work with a stretch wrapper?

Yes. Palletising and stretch wrapping are commonly linked by conveyors so pallets are built and wrapped without manual handling.

Is a palletiser suitable for bags as well as cartons?

Yes, with the right gripper. Tell us what you pack and we will recommend a configuration.

How do I get a quote for a palletiser?

Share your product, its size and weight, output per hour and pallet size, and Durapak will recommend a system and send a quotation.
